چکیده

Abstract Background Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common painful and disabling condition that affects older individuals. Proprioceptive training programs in the form of kinesthesia, balance agility (KBA) exercises have been reported to be beneficial for individuals with knee OA. However, most optimal dosage KBA still unclear. The aim this study determine effects different frequencies (i.e., twice-weekly or thrice-weekly) adults Methods A single (assessor) blind, three-arm parallel, multi-center randomized controlled trial will conducted. One hundred twenty OA recruited from four tertiary hospitals Northwestern Nigeria randomly assigned into one three intervention groups; ( n = 40), thrice-weekly conventional physiotherapy 40) ratio 1:1:1. Participants group receive two sessions brief patient education, sixteen ultrasound therapy, stretching strengthening 8 weeks. groups according designed weeks addition program. All assessed pre-intervention, immediately post-intervention at 3 months, 4 6 months post-randomization. primary outcome physical function (Ibadan Hip Osteoarthritis Outcome Measure) whereas secondary outcomes pain intensity (Visual Analogue Scale pain), stability (Knee Survey-Activities Daily Living Scale), proprioception (electronic goniometer), quality life (Osteoarthritis Quality Life Questionnaire). Discussion findings may provide evidence on effectiveness exercise ideal number needed achieve highest Trial registration Pan African Clinical Trials Registry PACTR201810713260138 ). Knee Osteoarthritis and the Efficacy of Kinesthesia, Balance & Agility Exercise Training: A Pilot Study

Kinesthesia, balance and agility (KBA) neuromuscular exercises are commonly used for rehabilitation of lower extremity injuries. KBA combined with strength training (ST) reportedly improves function among persons with knee osteoarthritis (OA), but independent effects of KBA are unknown. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of KBA exercises, independent of ST, to improve funct...

Effects of kinesthesia and balance exercises in knee osteoarthritis.

BACKGROUND In patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA), there is a prominent loss in proprioception and kinesthesia sensation compared with control subjects of the same age and gender. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study is the investigation of short-term clinical effects of kinesthesia and balance exercises in patients with knee OA. METHODS This 8-week study was conducted on 66 female patients ...

Effectiveness of phototherapy incorporated into an exercise program for osteoarthritis of the knee: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND Osteoarthritis is a chronic disease with a multifactor etiology involving changes in bone alignment, cartilage, and other structures necessary to joint stability. There is a need to investigate therapeutic resources that combine different wavelengths as well as different light sources (low-level laser therapy and light-emitting diode therapy) in the same apparatus for the treatment o...

Effects of tai chi program on neuromuscular function for patients with knee osteoarthritis: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a major cause of disability as well as a burden on healthcare resources. Tai chi has been proposed as an alternative and complementary treatment for the management of knee osteoarthritis, but there appears to be no consensus on its usefulness. This study aims to develop an innovative tai chi rehabilitation program (ITCRP) for patients with knee OA, and to ...
